![]() ![]() (and they wouldn't know anyway :P)Įdit 2. I'm sure this breaks all rules with maxmind but I don't think they would mind if it's a few people who otherwise couldn't afford it and you would pay for it and not pirate it. it's the god old adobe pirating cycle.Įdit: why don't you ask here in r/webdev in a separate post who wants to pitch in? if you get 20 people together it's $18.5 once and $4.5 a month for updates, just set up a paypal subscription service for it and pay maxmind out of that pool. some kids or startups might want to get around that and still have accurate data until they can afford paying for it. sure that's bad but considering that companies would pay the 370 bucks for the city database vs. I'm sure some "pirates" who work in web shops have full access to it and it's not like there is any special data in the binary file. I am always surprised that nobody torrents their database on a weekly interval. out of years of experience with this kind of data I can tell you maxmind is your best bet for pure geo data.ītw. you need to look up their prices and decide for yourself. ![]() maxmind payed edition is your best bet for accurate geo location data, neustar IP intelligence offers a lot of more data (ISP etc.) more accurately, and lastly ip2location isn't bad either in both data types (geo & additional infos, like ISP of a cellphone IP). you can obviously use the lite edition from maxmind which will be off especially outside the US. ![]()
